Chicago Acoustic Underground, Chicago’s only podcast dedicated to “underground” singer-songwriters and bands is celebrating its six year anniversary. Founded in 2006, “CAU” is now featuring over 430 music acts on its flagship website, www.chicagoacoustic.net. Musicians are invited to the CAU studio to perform original songs live, as well as chat with host Michael Teach about music and life.
“With CAU, fans see artists in an intimate light where the hype of the music industry falls away and all you have are good, rich songs from the heart.” – Hannah Frank, Chicago Musician and CAU Publicist
Officially worldwide, the locally-recorded podcast is downloaded in forty countries including the U.S. The personal interviews, photographs and podcast audio is 100% free for listeners. Musical guests have included Crystal Bowersox (9th season American Idol Runner-up) and her husband Brian Walker, Didi Benami (American Idol finalist), Ted Wulfers, Shawn Phillips (session player with The Beatles and Donovan). CAU also features local acts like Andreas Kapsalis & Gordon Ivanovic, Jess Godwin, Julie Meckler and Musikanto as well as Ode, who have enjoyed local recognition and radio play on WXRT 93.1FM.
Chicago Acoustic Underground is also active in the Chicago Music Booking scene and is supplying talent to the COYOTE: Wicker Park/Bucktown Festival of the Arts on September 28, 29 and 30, 2012 at venues including the Double Door. See www.coyotefestival.org.
Genres include Folk, Americana, Hard Rock, Jazz and many more styles. The only prerequisite is that the music be original and can be performed live.
Chicago Acoustic Underground is also a sponsor of Chicago Guitar Festival and local shows have contributed to charities. By supporting musicians consistently, CAU has become a part of the fabric of the original music scene in Chicago.
Building on its successful podcast programming, CAU has launched a label, CAUDog Records, which has produced over eight albums in two years. See www.caudogrecords.com. CAU continues to grow in new ways but stayed true to its roots– original music in its purest form.
